Bootfitting at Gates & Boards
Your boots are the most important piece of equipment in your setup—they’re what connect you directly to your skis or snowboard. A precise fit means better control, more comfort, and the best possible experience on the mountain. That’s why at Gates & Boards, we specialize in professional bootfitting tailored to your unique needs.
What We Do During a Bootfit
Our trained bootfitters take the time to understand your feet, your goals, and your style of skiing or riding. Here’s what you can expect:
Detailed Foot Assessment – We look at length, width, instep height, and overall proportions of your foot to select the right shell. We also factor in your performance level to match you with the correct boot flex.
Custom Footbeds – Stock footbeds are just flat foam with no support. We offer a range of upgraded options, from trim-to-fit to full custom footbeds, heat-molded and shaped precisely to your foot. This ensures the perfect connection between your foot, the boot, and the ski or snowboard.
Shell & Liner Modifications – Everyone’s feet are different. Whether you have bunions, bone spurs, or just need extra width, we can heat mold, punch, or grind the shell to create the space you need.
Alignment Adjustments – Proper stance matters. We can evaluate knee alignment and, if necessary, shim the shell to correct for bow-legged or knock-kneed positions, improving comfort and performance.
Why Choose Us?
Unlike most big-box retailers, we provide the kind of personalized bootfitting you’ll only find at an independent specialty shop. Our team lives and breathes skiing and snowboarding, and we know how boots should truly fit.
