At Gates & Boards, our Junior Half Back Program makes it easy and affordable to keep your kids in properly fitting ski and snowboard gear every season, without buying oversized equipment they’ll struggle to use.

Program Timeline

  • Year 1: Get 50% back toward your next size
  • Year 2: Still eligible for 25% back
  • After 2 years: Trade-ins are no longer guaranteed
    • Eligibility is based on condition, safety, and usability
    • Gear may be refused if too worn or outdated

Important Return Note

  • Any eligible junior gear returned outside of our 14-day return window will be processed under the Half Back Program and is eligible for a maximum of 50% of the original purchase price as store credit - regardless of use or condition, including items returned new or in original packaging.
  • If you’d prefer a full refund, or a credit for the full purchase value, the items must be returned within 14 days of the original purchase date and meet our standard return policy conditions

FAQ

Do I need to keep my receipt?

Nope! We track your purchase. Just provide your name and phone number upon purchase.

Can I join with gear purchased elsewhere?

Yes! Bring in your junior gear and we’ll provide a trade-in estimate.

What if my child stops skiing or snowboarding?

No problem. Use your trade-in credit toward anything in-store.

Can I trade in gear purchased online?

Yes, but all gear must be brought in person for inspection.
(We do not accept shipped trade-ins.)

Do you buy back adult gear?

No. This program is exclusively for junior equipment. (See size limitations below)

Eligible Equipment Guidelines

To ensure safety and quality, some items are not eligible:

Not Accepted:

  • Helmets & goggles
  • Ski poles
  • Race equipment (skis, boots, bindings)
  • Park/freestyle skis & bindings
  • Broken or unusable gear

Maximum Credit Values:

  • Skis with bindings: $200
  • Boots (ski or snowboard): $100
  • Snowboards with bindings: $250

Junior Size Limits:

  • Skis: up to 140 cm
  • Ski boots: up to 26.5 MP
  • Snowboards: up to 145 cm
  • Snowboard boots: up to Youth US 7
